Town Council's Aphothecary, Tallinn
(4/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Take a step back in medical history at Town Council's Aphothecary, the oldest medical enterprise in Tallinn, and one of the oldest in all of Europe. The pharmacy was founded in the early 15th century and has run continuously in the same building ever since. Explore the on-site museum, which displays a small collection of historic medical tools and others used by physicians in the past. You'll find many relics from the business over the years, including an array of medieval and Renaissance-era remedies. For a souvenir, pick up some claret, a spiced Germanic wine, from the pharmacy's gift shop. • We as doctors were very interesting to visit the pharmacy. Find it easy: stand with your back to the Town Hall and opposite to the right see sign of pharmacies. Many exhibits, interesting facts about medieval pharmacies in Estonian, Russian and English. Often a pharmacy is closed for a break.

  • The old pharmacies have always fascinated me and this is really very nice and interesting because it is a pharmacy still active where you don't see only old shelving and glass and ceramic containers but some annexed rooms in the Museum with some really interesting collections and samples of old puzzling and unusual remedies.
