Tallinn Town Hall, Tallinn

4.5
Gothic architectural style defines Tallinn Town Hall, a 15th-century building with a 64 m (210 ft) tall tower crowned by "Old Thomas," a weather vane that has come to serve as a symbol of Tallinn. Explore the network of rooms within, complete with decorative pillars, arched ceilings, and fireplaces, and take in the setting that saw many of the city council's most important decisions. You can climb the 115 steps up to the tower's belfry, from where you'll get a sweeping view of the square below and the city's many spires. Keep in mind that public access to the building varies by season, so be sure to check the website to ensure it's open. • Recently renovated town hall, looks fine. On the visit to get to know in advance-there may be events. To explore the open halls of the second floor, where the City Council and burgomasters. Annotations in all languages, you can read about self-government of the town in the middle ages. Be sure to make the burgomaster of selfi or chest where they kept the city Treasury. In the basement is a permanent exhibition devoted to medieval costume. The most amusing portraits of Swedish Kings in the Office of the Treasury. Pity that did not remain in the possession of Sweden!

  • Or just at the time when you actually come here I got to visit is the Tower got to climb. It was a big disappointment. As such, the exhibit traces the history of Tallinn, is a good and quite lively tavallakin. To manage the language that requires, in the Finnish language signs does not exist. On the other hand, Yes, the exhibition is "a little bit of the poor", I think I might still be going to the purpose of this nature. Is by no means a bad business, towers, and the views I missed.

  • Arriving at the Town Hall Square, the first thing he sees is a church with a strange Bell Tower. This is definitely not a church, but the Town Hall and is surmounted by a tower somewhat peculiar. The building has changed over the years, in fact the current portico was added in a corner where there's also a restaurant.

  • Tallinn has to be seen to be believed. It has to be the most beautiful medieval town we have visited. We are definitely returning soon.
  • After a walking tour of old town Tallinn, we had time to ourselves. We chose to sit outside at a cafe across from the Tallinn Town Hall. It's an ideal observation point to watch people and the flow of life in this beautiful city. After refreshments, we walked and visited various shops, bookstores, curious, etc. - of which there are plenty. A satisfying day for an all too short visit to Tallinn.
  • Great place to stop for food and drinks. Lots of people watching here.
  • Stunning from the outside. Haven't had a chance to step indoors yet! Love the market which is held in the town square during Christmas time and summer. Always feel a little bit of magic here in Old Town Tallinn.
  • Exterior is good example of medieval architect in a nice setting - large public space, a market space. Didn't notice in time but there are tours of the interior space including a large guild hall.
