Tallinn Song Festival Grounds, Tallinn

4.3
The site of a key series of events in Estonia's history, Tallinn Song Festival Grounds is today one of the country's premier music venues. Visit the grounds, which host an annual namesake festival that includes almost 25,000 singers. Learn about the role that the festival played in national independence, when thousands of Estonians gathered here beginning in 1988 to sing patriotic songs protesting Soviet rule. You can climb to the top of the 42 m (138 ft) tall lighthouse next to the main stage and arch, where you'll be rewarded with views of the grounds, the city, and the nearby Gulf of Finland. Be sure to check the grounds' event schedule for information about frequent concerts, rallies, and activities. • You can enter this stage for free music. Very nice view on the sea. This stage can accommodate the biggest artists in the world with a capacity of more than 75,000 people.

  • 4 stars because the Youth Song Festival charged 0.50€ to use the restroom and the line was ridiculously long. They need to set up portable restrooms. Also, there was way too much congestion at the event as though more tickets were sold than the space could actually handle. I also think they should put up two big screens up so that the back area can see the stage better. Other than that, I was still amazed at the number of children they had performing at this event. Very patriotic and very cool.
  • If you are going for a big concert then its the right place. The fact that it is concerts are viewed from the hill is so awesome because even with 80 000 people there are pretty much no blind spots and everyone can enjoy the view.
  • Heart of Estonian unity - especially during song festivals, but also worth visiting at other times. In the Summer there are outside concerts and festivals of all kinds kept outside and there are inside rooms for conferences and exhibits. During snowy months italso turns into a popular sledding hill.
  • From historical point of view it is an important place for Lithuania. Therefor i think it's worth visiting the site. You won't spend lots of time overthere, but it is good to combine it with a walk in Kadriorg Area.
  • Great place for great events. If no events then it's just a nice walk and breath in the vibe of the Singing Revolution. Beautiful views to the sea. If concerts, then these can be true megaevents, ranging from famous Song Festival to concerts of world's best entertainers (Rolling Stones, late Michael Jackson, Robbie Williams, Rammstein).
