Pirita Convent, Tallinn
(4.2/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web)
Located close to the scenic shore of the Pirita River, Pirita Convent was built in the 15th century as a home for both monks and nuns. Now in ruins, the monumental convent was once among the largest religious structures in this part of the world. Much of its architecture still remains, and it displays a combination of Gothic grandeur and the ascetic values of its former inhabitants. The site is open throughout the year and the convent is rarely crowded, so it's likely you'll have the opportunity to see it totally undisturbed. • Were in the monastery in snowy weather in November, very spectacular-all around in the white snow, and the majestic façade of the monastery. Entrance proved to be free, with great accuracy, the band were all buried in snow, it was dangerous to step on neprotoptannye tracks the places on the map indicated that there are wells and cellar on the territory of the ruins. Afraid to fall..

  • Not understand, honestly, this place. Wall stones, ruins on a very small area. Not worth wasting time better to enjoy the atmosphere of the Centre of Tallinn.

  • A place you must to visit. It won't take long, but it's an old and majestic ruins.
  • Ruins of monastery.
  • Impressive remains of the convent of Saint Brigid and the church built at the beginning of 1400 and destroyed at the end of the 16th century, during the Livonian war. The site is partly surrounded by an ancient graveyard. Access is free of charge, in 2016 the ticket is 2 euros. The bus that goes to the tv tower stops right near the entrance. Across the street from the convent is located, perpendicular, a comfortable path to the beach.

  • Feeling that money for the admission charge as Ostap Bender collected to repair the failure. There is a set of some of the ruins of a monastery, which supposedly played a role. Well plus beautiful flowerbeds and other greenery. Such monasteries once in bulk was the more fortunate couple walls survived, unlike the others. The meaning of the visit is, if you are collecting details of the life of the cloister. And the flowerbeds and botanical gardens to see the benefit of it nearby.
