Photographic Museum at Raekoja, Tallinn

(4.1/5 based on 40 reviews on the web)
Visit Photographic Museum at Raekoja, a former prison that now features collections of photographs and antique cameras, as well as presentations on the history of Estonian photography. The museum hosts temporary exhibits in which you can constantly see new items from the inventory of 65,000 pieces. Learn about the development of photography from the 1840s through 1940s and find out what a darkroom looked like at the beginning of the 20th century. Look for the smallest vintage camera from Estonia--a pocket-sized Minox from 1936--and observe a large selection of photography equipment and objects. • Wonderful Museum which is housed in a step away from the old town square. Several halls. The building of the former prison. Here is the history of the development of photo, stunning exhibits: the camera almost from the beginning of the photo and items manifestations of photos, interesting snapshots of the 19th century, which faces! Now running an exhibition dedicated to the bike in Estonia, you can take a picture with a school bike beginning 20 century. A great movie about the history of the photo. Very cute guardian of the Museum. Since building medieval-steps and transitions from room to room is very narrow and impassable for people with disabilities.

  • This museum provides some historical memories of early Estonian photographers and a range of images from their documentation in the countryside and on trips abroad. Descriptions appear in English. Upstairs, be a lot of paraphernalia from cycklande and motorcyklande! photographers and a pretty unique collection of old cameras of all time. Unfortunately, the displays rather boring, which pulls down on the big picture in the Museum. For a Shutterbug though, it is a must that I self, but calls for an upgrade and a guide besides. The staff just running around. Just a money in entry. Potensiale be!

  • A good choice that includes cameras and photographs, though it is small is well distributed. The Museum is located in the historical centre of the city and is located in what was the medieval prison. Recommendation: Visit the Olde Hanse restaurant with medieval atmosphere that separate it from the Museum just a few houses. Enjoy Tallinn and its wide cultural offer. LIFE... it's a trip!
