Oleviste Church, Tallinn

(4.5/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
Standing imposingly over Tallinn's old town, Oleviste Church represents both the cultural epicenter of the city's Scandinavian population and the tallest medieval structure in the area. Solidly built during the 12th century and modified several times since, the church dwarfs many of the buildings around it with its 124 m (407 ft) tall tower and spire. Enter the structure and you'll find that although it lacks much of the ornate artwork found in Catholic and Orthodox churches, it still possesses vaulted ceilings, a large organ, and a decorative altar. You can make your way to the tower's observation deck, where you'll be rewarded with a sweeping view of both sections of the city, modern Tallinn's skyscrapers, and the Gulf of Finland. Check the church's website for information on worship and service times; it has an active congregation. • St. OLAF's Church remains the Giants ' legends. Winter is not allowed. While viewing the course, climb the Tower in warm season, if you can. Featured spot can soak in the views and the history of Tallinn.

  • The tallest building in the old town. Visited the Church and Tower. The Church is very simple. Inside seats, yes the Department for sermons. Beautiful gothic vaulting ceilings and Windows. Atmospheric place, but do more 15 minutes there. The entrance to the Church itself is free. The Tower we paid a few euros per person. When lifting may develop claustrophobia-very tight staircase. We hardly differed from people who went down. Go hard. Stage erased. Well, what can I do? Climbed. Under the roof sits a man guard. The details he did not elaborate. Supervises quietly solving crosswords =) the view from the Tower opens a beautiful! Stands to suffer a difficult ascent to see this beauty. Walk on the roof of a very uncomfortable but generally safe. For I haven't got any photos in the instagramm good!

  • A great tower to discover Tallinn bird's-eye view. However, recovery is quite laborious. Narrowly. High steep stairs. And a very long climb. But there is nothing to be surprised, in a historic building, one of the highest in the past. You want good species, stand up!
