Long Boot (Pikk Jalg), Tallinn
(4.3/5 based on 85 reviews on the web)
Have a walk along the narrow cobblestone road of Long Boot (Pikk Jalg), the oldest street in the city. Situated among tall ramparts of former forts, medieval warehouses, and churches, this steep street features small cafes, souvenir shops, and artists lining the fortress walls selling their wares. The street eventually leads you to a 14th-century gate, once an entrance to the lower town. Grab a coffee and purchase paintings from some of the artists, or admire the old fortification and snap photos of the heavy iron gates and spired rooftops. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes for walking this uneven road. Arrange to visit Long Boot (Pikk Jalg) and other attractions in Tallinn using our Tallinn trip itinerary builder.

  • pedestrian access to the upper part of the town with the old walls that surround it. Away all pebbles where you feel transported into the medieval period. Numerous artists and souvenir stalls increase the charm

  • My wife and I also walked part of this street on our way from Toompea Hill towards the Town Hall Square. We took a couple of pictures of moss on the wall.
  • Authentic, it is according to me the nicest to cross in the old town lane. It starts from the Cathedral to take you to the heart of the city. Snow, rendering was amplified with a really incredible medieval atmosphere. Feel free to stop and enjoy every detail!
