Dominican St. Catherine's Monastery Claustrum, Tallinn

(4/5 based on 65+ reviews on the web)
Tour the medieval Dominican St. Catherine's Monastery Claustrum to see dormitories, living quarters, and a library where generations of monks spent their lives through the centuries. Stroll along hallways where your voice echoes in the darkness and eerie Gothic statues hide in corners, then visit the large chapel with its crumbling brick walls. In the cellar of the complex lies a mysterious pillar: legend says it possesses forces that elevate you to a higher spiritual state and bring good health to those who come near it. If you're interested, the staff can organize thematic tours and programs at the site, which involve storytelling, costumes, and lit torches throughout the monastery's medieval walls. Using our international travel planner, Tallinn attractions like Dominican St. Catherine's Monastery Claustrum can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • the entrance provides a bit of information about the history of this enchanting place that housed an ancient monastery of the heat. Few locals, but interesting

  • Unfortunately the inside was closed, but the patio is beautiful and worth seeing for the historical value of the building

  • In 1246 it says on a sign outside the entrance at the Vene street. There are frera halls and once to and from where you can see the structure and with input from the other side of the block, there is a flight of steps in an alley up to the Dominican Museèt and that is where the best photos are taken and where from is my photos!
