Originally constructed by the knights of the Teutonic Order, Kuressaare Episcopal Castle represents one of the country's most well-preserved medieval defense structures of its kind. Pay a visit to the fortification, located on Estonia's largest island, and discover the castle's crucial past role as the administrative center of the surrounding town. Explore the grounds and defenses of the structure, including the internal courtyard, religious buildings, and attached guard tower standing 37 m (121 ft) high. The complex today houses the Saremaa Museum, which documents the ecology, history, and anthropology of the island and also is home to concert halls and exhibits. Today there is a museum in four floors in bail plus that you can go out on the roof to photograph the sea. In the courtyard are performed in summer theater and music performances + market! Beautiful natural area around the moats.

  • The Castle remained the only visit possible in autumn in Kuressaare. Nicely renovated, contains a permanent exhibition of Estonian occupation by the Soviets and Nazis very interesting. For the rest it is nice to visit and wander around the halls. Curiosity: it is partly heated by radiators.
