Categories: Historic Sites, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
2.7/5 based on 75+ reviews on the web
The windmill Trahter Veski represents a monument of national importance, with its typical Dutch architectural style. Built in 1899, this well-preserved structure served its function until World War II, when enemy forces cut off its blades in an effort to prevent the locals from using them to send secret signals. Standing 17 m (56 ft) tall, the brick windmill now features reconstructed blades and sits surrounded by traditional gardens. The site also houses a restaurant, where you can try homemade beer and a multitude of local dishes.
