Haapsalu Castle, Haapsalu

Categories: Castles, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.6/5 based on 85+ reviews on the web
Located right in the town's center, the medieval Haapsalu Castle boasts the biggest single-nave church in the Baltics and the tallest structure in town. As you walk through the dark hallways of this convent, you'll see medieval chambers with preserved objects and wooden adornments that bring a strange balance to the monument. Climb the 38 m (125 ft) tall bell tower to enjoy views of the surrounding area. The site is also famed for the reported sightings of the White Lady--the ghost of a maiden who was captured and starved to death in the castle. • Interesting place with lot of history behind it. Take a tour or ask any local to tell you more about the different folk stories and legends about the castle. Also the Church in the ruins is fully functional 😉
  • Worth every cent invested in it. Just hang out there, relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
  • The outstanding acoustics in the Riga Dome Church in Bishop's Castle. Were at a concert of the Gregorian Chorale spring 2015-an unforgettable experience. The castle itself has an interesting architecture and separation into two parts-one big playground, another lawn, scene, and the actual internal structures with quite interesting, albeit scruffy Museum. You can climb the highest Tower and listen as ringing Bell =) from the tower beautiful view of the city and the sea!
