Lago Suchitlán, Suchitoto

(3.7/5 based on 70+ reviews on the web)
The largest body of water in El Salvador, Lago Suchitlán presents visitors with a rich display of bird and fish life. The lake was created artificially in 1976, after the power generating damn Cerron Grande was built. Take a boat ride around the lake and head toward an island in the middle as you sail over the calm water. The island houses hundreds of nesting birds who fly about during the day. • The lake is lovely and the walk down is scenic. Good for a quiet place to sit for awhile, you can also take boat rides, which I didn't do but looked pleasant. Should be part of any visit to Suchitoto.
  • Lovely walk in the town of Suchitoto. You can sit on the shores of the Lake and leave the time or you can take a stroll in boat, where you visit several islands; In addition, you can enjoy rich dishes and drinks. I caught my attention the large number of aquatic plants which has the Lake, I know if this affects the ecosystem, but in my view detract showiness to the body of water.
