Santa Ana Cathedral, Santa Ana

Church Tourist Spot
Sitting in the heart of Santa Ana, Santa Ana Cathedral boasts a neo-Gothic style not typical of cathedrals in the country. Built from 1906 to 1956, when the marble altar of the Virgin Mary was finally completed, the structure is almost completely comprised of red brick, except for its grand white facade, adorned with white ornate moldings. Two towers found either side of the face feature three bells. Step inside and find towering white and pink pillars and arches creating a sense of spaciousness in an already grand building. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Santa Ana Department holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Santa Ana Cathedral and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • This is an interesting building because of the mixture of architectural styles that don't quite clash. As a place of worship it was tranquil but not spiritual and I really don't like their "electric" ...  more »
  • Not the most impressive of Central American cathedrals but worth a quick visit. Free to enter. 100's of pigeons outside being fed watch out for poo!  more »

  • Love the architecture, history and the urban environment in the current times. ..
  • Nice
  • A catholic church with a gothic layout
  • One of the most beautiful cathedrals I have visited. Beautiful and imposing building, its two bell towers and multiple windows are its main attraction. Inside, it is fantastic.

  • Beautiful church with Gothic architecture in our Salvadoran West in the city of Santa Ana. Rarely it is pleased to see this kind of architecture in our country.
