Volcan San Salvador, San Salvador
(4.8/5 based on 65+ reviews on the web)
Take the memorable drive and scenic hike to the crater of Volcan San Salvador. Stop at the museum before the hike itself for an interesting lesson into the incredible force of nature that looms over the city. The hike gets steep at stages, but once you reach the top, you can enjoy epic views from one of the several viewing stations. Bring plenty of water, sturdy shoes, and consider taking supplies for a picnic at the top. The trip shouldn’t take more than 3 hours. For travelers who use our world travel planner, San Salvador holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Volcan San Salvador and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • It is possible to travel to the rim of the caldera and view the huge caldera from that vantage point. It was easy to climb up to the top. There was a nicely constructed observation point.
