Parque Nacional El Boqueron, San Salvador

(550+ reviews on the web)
National Park
Explore the rich plant life at Parque Nacional El Boqueron, set on top of the massive San Salvador Volcano. Choose from one of the well-marked hiking trails, some more challenging than others, and trek to the park's main attraction, the Boqueron crater. Admire the vast crater, 5 km (3 mi) in diameter, from picturesque viewpoints. See the much smaller crater within the large one, affectionately nicknamed "Boqueroncito." The interesting scenery here is the result of a 1917 volcanic eruption. Using our world travel planner, San Salvador attractions like Parque Nacional El Boqueron can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • An active volcano with the most incredible views. Will be walking, which seems more upwards than down, and a small museum, giving a brief description of the history of the area. Foreigners will pay TWICE as much as the locals when visiting, which is an astounding $2..(the entire country uses American currency ) A definite must see if in this country.
