#1 of 17 in Historic Sites in El Salvador
Pay a visit to Iglesia El Rosario, a modern church and landmark of San Salvador. Built in 1971 by notable local sculptor Ruben Martinez, the church has a simple concrete and red-brick exterior that belies its striking interior. Wander inside to see an arching ceiling of stained glass, filtering natural light into a rainbow of colors. Whether you're religious or not, you can appreciate the artistic beauty of the church, which features an eclectic metal and stone rendition of the twelve stages of the cross. Padre Delgado, known as the leader of the Salvadoran independence movement, is buried here. • At first sight unusual buildup. Modern, quaint on the inside. The shapes of the cross, and both offer many interesting facts. Quite unusual from this city. It's nice to watch!

  • It's a must visit when you're in the city. Incredible windows. Also don't miss the series of sculptures on the right hand side as you enter - amazing.  more »

  • Such a beautiful church. It is a great piece of art. The colors inside are super beautiful, you can take pictures inside but you have to be very respectful at all times. You also learn a lot by going inside the church. The area around is very safe too. I recomend visiting this lovely place.
  • I've seen more churches than I can count all over the world. This one is so unique and amazing. Highly recommend braving the streets of San Sal to experience this gem.
  • The most interesting church I've ever been to. Amazing feel to it. Getting there and getting out was a bit difficult but it was well worth it. One of the highlights of our vacation
  • A really cool, unlike church-church. The artful displays about Christ's crucifixion events are unique and great. The highlight ofcourse is there stained glass display throughout. Thoroughly enjoyed the place.
  • Spectacular. Such a simple interior to the church showcases the real appeal of the structure: the gorgeous rainbow cast throughout the building no matter where the sun is in the sky because of the positioning of the stained glass in the arched roof.
