If you’re looking to absorb a little history, head out to Museo de la Revolucion Salvadorena to learn about the El Salvadoran wars. Though small in scale, the museum offers many artifacts and exhibits from the era to take in, showcasing the events that unfolded during the 12-year civil war. Most exhibits are only available in Spanish, so if you don’t know the language, a guide is highly recommended. • After touring various places of my beloved El Salvador, went to visit the city of Perquin. The motive, to further understand the history of this country. The Museum is small, but has well distributed areas. In this you can see photographs, newspaper clippings from various countries of the world, weapons and objects of the people who were part of the guerrilla, but above all to feel the vibe of what was the war in El Salvador. On the side of the exhibition hall, one can enter camp guerrilla watching trenches, walk through the different bridges, see variety of weapons, uniforms, a makeshift stretcher which tended to the wounded and many more things. It is a highly recommended place to visit and thus understand more of the armed conflict that took place in El Salvador.

  • The museum is a wonderful compilation of photos and artifacts from the Civil War in El Salvador (officially 1980-1992). Our guide was a former combatant who shared stories of the revolution. There is ...  more »
  • The Museum of the revolution is a compulsory visit to know the recent history of El Salvador. It is a self-managed site that explains what happened during the conflict in the country. The entrance cost US $1.20 (probably cheaper for nationals) and once inside the guide of the Museum, a former fighter, he gave us all the necessary explanations. The price of the ticket does not include this tour, but after the initial explanations of more general, Carlos did us happy due to the interest shown. As the tour is not included, we gave a will Carlos for the detailed explanations. The Museum features four rooms: one about the causes, one on solidarity, other weapons, another on the peace agreements and the last on the broadcasting of the FMNL. In addition, next to the Museum you can visit a field guerrilla at an additional cost. In short, is completely worth move to this tip of the country to visit the path of peace and the Museum in particular, although I recommend be sure to have a guide who give all the necessary explanations.

  • Only Museum in El Salvador in which you can learn about the contemporary history of El Salvador, meet the protagonists of the armed conflict and have a conversation with them. You need to renew some things as it looks a little worn. It is best to make the journey with one of the guides that are available in the place.
