Ruin Landmark Must See
Dating as far back as the 17th century BCE, Step Pyramid of Djoser remains among the world's oldest monumental masonry structures. Possibly the tallest building at the time of its completion, the step-pyramid and its surrounding complex of buildings were built by Imhotep, the high priest and advisor to the Pharaoh Djoser. Take a guided tour of the pyramid, along with the rest of the Saqqara necropolis structures, to find out more about the historic monument and capture some striking photographs of the site. • Absolutely jaw dropping, you see it on TV and think wow that's cool, you actually see them in person and go inside of them and it's a whole different story; I felt like Indiana Jones! One of the...  more »

  • YOU MUST DO THIS PYRAMID My favorite of an 8 hour pyramids tour I did. No, it's not the largest, but it's the oldest and wasn't very crowded at all. It's part of a larger mortuary complex which contains a temple and beautiful tombs. A smaller pyramid is on site which you can enter and see the hieroglyphs.
  • Nice place to spend a couple of hours exploring. Besides the pyramid, there's many tombs and other sites of archeological value in the immediate vicinity. At the time of my visit (January 2019), there was some restoration work ongoing on the pyramid (with scaffolding, etc...) making it less impressive than what it could be. But worth a visit anyway.
  • Less crowded than the pyramids of Giza and only a short drive away, the Pyramid of Djoser is worth a visit. You can descend into the centre of the pyramid where you will view three separate chambers. Note, the descent into the chamber is via a 65m shaft that is quite small, so reconsider if you aren't okay with small confined spaces. It can also be slightly challenging on the legs so moderate fitness levels are required.
  • For sure a must! Better than the actual main pyramids. Once you enter you will never forget. Do not go inside the great pyramid nor do the night light show.
  • Oldest Pyramid before the well know triangle shaped one. But bit far away if you are not with tour. If you are with tour, usually will stop by to have lunch as well, which they serve good grill meats.
