  • The Muhammad Ali Mosque is located in the citadel of Cairo and was built around 1830 in the Ottoman style. The structure is very beautiful, inside there is only one room and only 4 pillars that support a set of domes. At the entrance to the right is the tomb of Muhammad Ali. The mosque is entirely clad in alabaster. Don't miss it

  • Beautiful mosque that is still used for prayers. The gardens and white marbled areas outside the mosque are also quite stunning. Like all the other areas of the citidel, its not touristy and very quiet. A good place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cairo.
  • a piece of architect in Cairo. you feel like you were transported to Istanbul. the position, the ceiling and the manbars are great, but the place overall can be cleaner and the mosque needs more care from the authorities.
  • This is a stunning piece of architecture and and wonderful example of incorporation of different cultures. It was designed and constructed by the ottomans during their period of Egyptian occupation. The design is very grand and huge. Inside its inviting and spacious. The light chandelier is very unique and low hanging. Come during the evening when its cooler and not so hot.
  • It's beautiful place. The Great Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha or Alabaster Mosque is a mosque situated in the Citadel of Cairo in Egypt and was commissioned by Muhammad Ali Pasha between 1830 and 1848. It is called the Alabaster Mosque or the Crown of all Mosques. It has 2 Manarats, one big dome surrounded by four smaller domes. Very beautiful art work on the dome's walls. Beautiful white marble floors.
  • Amazing mosque and great view. Takes some walking to reach it. Definitely worth seeing! Free information about Islam in different languages if you want it. Vendors around the area are over priced significantly. Do not buy from them. Bring your own food and drinks if necessary.
