Outstanding mosaics and beautiful interior. Very reverent as you enter to view the symbolism and beauty of the interior. Easy access by Metro or Uber. Close to the Museum of Egyptian Civilization.

The ground of the church was that it was the very place where Jesus and Mary hid in Egypt. The church is very uniquely built with absolutely gorgeous architecture. It is called the hanging church because the whole church is situated on two towers with no basis on the ground at all. Also, the oldest church in Egypt, it’s free to visit. The beauty of this church was mesmerizing. Definitely a 'do visit' place.

If you're looking for a church with a bit of history, the Hanging Church is well worth a visit. It's one of the oldest churches in Cairo, and it's said to be named for its location above a Coptic cemetery. The church is also known for its beautiful architecture and its collection of icons and religious paintings. Make sure to go inside and check out the decorations - they're really incredible. There's no entrance fee, but it can be a bit difficult to find. Just look for the crowds of people and you'll know you're in the right place. If you're looking for a unique and interesting experience while in Cairo, be sure to visit The Hanging Church..

A church with an interesting, unique architecture. You will understand only when you go in and move around. Workers are very nice and friendly, they let us see around even if the museum was actually closed.
-
Beautiful ancient Coptic Church with fantastic woodwork and tile. The artwork is fantastic as well. Beware...Lots of steps...slippery Marble. Please dress respectfully.
-
Unbeknownst to me, the church is built over the grounds where Mary and baby Jesus hid while in Egypt. The church is ancient and found inside are many reliques, such as the bones of many martyred saints. It's a place to pray as well as a tourist attraction.
