Egyptian Antiquities Museum, Cairo
Ancient history at its best, Egyptian Antiquities Museum boasts a collection notable for its standout pieces and, with a total of around 120,000 pieces, for its depth. First timers will want to see the Gold Mask of Tutankhamen, the young ruler's funerary mask, discovered in 1925 and perhaps the most iconic of the museum's artifacts. The ground floor displays a wealth of coins and papyrus fragments, while up on the first floor you'll find most of the findings from the Valley of the Kings. There is building material somewhere and as a tourist you don't know if you can go through etc etc etc. The price is TOTAL overpriced (camera lovers pay extra). However, you pay an extra "I-darf-photography ticket" is prevented from doing so in the mummy chambers and in the Tutankhamun room, which makes absolutely no sense to me. I will definitely never visit this museum again and I will not recommend it to anyone either. Friendly greetings from Switzerland, Chur.

A conservation of the extraordinary mummies still hair on some to do absolutely with a local guide
The museum is very poorly organized and signage is lacking, which is a shame because it houses some real treasures. Admission is currently 160LE, 80 for students (Jan 2019). As usual, Arabs pay 7 times less than foreigners. Men in the courtyard are currently asking 300LE per hour and will show a fake ID to prove they are official. It is best to arrange an official guide ahead of time who will have better pricing, better English (or French or Spanish), and a degree in Egyptology. Do NOT pay extra to see the mummies, unless you enjoy seeing 2 dozen dead people in bandages and various states of decomposition. There is no extra fee for the Tutankhamen exhibit. At the very least, bring a guide book so you can see the important things here. The restaurant by the exit is very overpriced. Walk a couple of blocks to Tahrir Square to find better food at decent prices. Your ticket is valid all day, so you can leave and come back with the same ticket. If you loved history or otherwise also you will love this place. But without a guide you will be confused unless you ready about the museum. You can spend good 3 hours in the museum. The mummy room is mind blowing. The jewelry and the canopies jars the coffins are just amazing. There is no proper direction mentioned inside the museum. They need to improve since the world visits your museum
Incredible to see King Tut's Chambers and masks and jewelry, as well as countless treasures. Please hire a good guide - there's far too much to see without one. Most are only nominal in cost - mine was $60 for the day and included a trip to the pyramids, a ride on a camel, and hours inside the museum. Well worth it. You may have to pay a fee to take photos inside the museum - about 50EP.
Without a guide, the museum would be to overwhelming. There is very minimal signage. Even with a guide, there is too much to see! Amazing preservation of so many important artifacts. Mummy room is worth the additional fee in my opinion. Try going at night when it’s less crowded!
Although it needs a little more work to clean and to have better structure overall, it's still amazing! You can really tell a lot about this ancient rich culture only by looking around. Especially the mummies museum is recommended to visit.
