Take in the history and scenery of Al-Azhar Park, a large public space that offers relaxing grounds and cultural intrigue right in the heart of the city. The result of a major redevelopment and archaeological project, the 30 hectare (74 acre) park opened in 2005 with a collection of landscaped gardens arranged in an array of different regional styles, plus renovated 12th-century walls and medieval mosques. Restaurants and cafes serve local delights next to the main water features, and the hills afford attractive views of the citadel. With our custom trip planner, Cairo attractions like Al-Azhar Park can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

Must experience this. I can see hints of the Generalife in the design of the park and gardens. Dinner at the Citadel View Restaurant was like being in a dream! Save your pounds and splurge here...

Considering the area, this park was a welcomed retreat from the Hustle and bustle of Cairo. Surprisingly large and well planted. The air is fresh and it's quiet considering you're in Central Cairo.

Wonderful park to walk around in. Beautiful views of sunset! Many places to sit and hang out with friends! Lovely even at night with all the lights. Didn't try to eat at any restaurants. Women's bathroom didn't have toilet paper.

A clean, green and spacious park. Having beautiful lake and fountains. Very suitable place to spend good time with family and friends. The kids corner is well organised for kids. Its recommended and worth visiting.

It's a beautiful and clean park. There isn't much to do for tourists but we saw many locals: families with small kids spending time together and many couples on dates. It's a vast park and can take couple of hours to explore.

This is an amazing place to recharge your batteries in Cairo. It offers vast grounds with beautiful greenery and landscaping, a number of restaurants and cafés, as well as a sizable playground. Toilets were available and clean. The playground does get very busy on the weekends and some of the slides and swings would urgently need some maintenance work or safety checks.

It was a really great day there last weekend, it's clean and safe and a lot of green areas there made it perfect for the picnic, I highly recommend it specially for families have toddlers, you toddler can run, sleep, jump on the grass, even the babies can crowl on the grass, it's very clean.. for your information, it's not allowed to take your football there. The restaurants in there like the outside ones in price and food, you can go without a lot of luggages and buy your lunch there. have a good day for the one who will visit, and never leave without seeing the sunset there, it's charming
