#2 of 10 in Parks in Cairo
Park · Nature / Park
Take in the history and scenery of Al-Azhar Park, a large public space that offers relaxing grounds and cultural intrigue right in the heart of the city. The result of a major redevelopment and archaeological project, the 30 hectare (74 acre) park opened in 2005 with a collection of landscaped gardens arranged in an array of different regional styles, plus renovated 12th-century walls and medieval mosques. Restaurants and cafes serve local delights next to the main water features, and the hills afford attractive views of the citadel. With our custom trip planner, Cairo attractions like Al-Azhar Park can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • In this park there are many shady places where you can recover from the traffic and the noise of the megacity. It's definitely worth the entrance fee.  more »

  • Beautiful public park overlooking the city. We were there on a picture perfect weather day and had lunch at a wonderful outdoor restaurant. So nice we went back for dinner when the whole city was lit up. This is a great spot to get the non tourist vibe of Cairo. Highly recommended
  • Great story of creation of this park. It was landscaped over a landfill site. Beautiful area, wonderful sunset. Great view of the Citadel. Foreigners pay 20 L.E. but well worth it for such a well maintained park. No exit to the Citadel, must walk around to it.
  • The cleanest part of Cairo with some interesting sights within and a great view of Cairo looking North toward the city centre. Great paths and bistros. Well worth the price of admission (which is cheap). No alcohol permitted inside, only water. Great place to rest after a few tourist attractions around Cairo.
  • Amazing public park to visit & escape from the crowded streets in Cairo. Excellent location nearby to downtown. Beautiful landscapes to see and walk around. Highly recommended to all tourists & visitors of Cairo.
  • We have been a couple of times. It is a large and beautiful park. It is a great place to walk around or have a picnic. Our kids enjoyed the large playground. It can become crowded on weekends and holidays.
