  • My favourite place
  • 💎Farafra has an estimated 5,000 inhabitants (2002) mainly living in the town of Farafra and is mostly inhabited by the local Bedouins. Parts of the town have complete quarters of traditional architecture, simple, smooth, unadorned, all in mud colour — local culture and traditional methods of building and carrying out repairs have been supported by its tourism. Often grouped within Farafra are the hot springs at Bir Sitta (the sixth well) and the El-Mufid lake. The Farafra depression (Arabic: واحة الفرافرة‎‎, pronounced [elfɑˈɾɑfɾɑ]) is a 980 km2 (380 sq mi) geological depression, the second biggest by size in Western Egypt and the smallest by population, near latitude 27.06° north and longitude 27.97° east. It is in the large Western Desert of Egypt, approximately midway between Dakhla and Bahariya oases. The Crystal Mountain is a ridge located between Bahariya Oasis and Farafra Oasis.
  • A beautiful place where you can take amazing photos. Despite the great effort required to reach the top of some mountains, it is well worth going there to contemplate the surrounding area. A great place to admire this great world of my God.
  • Just south of the border between the Governments of Giza and Al Wadi Al Jadid, nature provides a nice break from the long, but certainly not boring route between the Bahariya and Farafra Oasis. The rock here contains a large amount of crystals in various colors and shapes. Normally these crystals are hidden inside the rocks, but due to the extreme weather conditions they have burst open so that visitors to this beautiful piece of desert can admire them. A nice break from ride that I certainly would not skip.
  • Amazing place. Yet sooner or later all remaining crystals will be gone. The crystal mountain is a ridge between the oases Bahariya and Farafra at the northern end of the White Desert National Park, consisting of a rock opening framed by crystals. The rock formation was discovered by accident during road works on the route from Farafra to Bahariya, during which the sub-volcanic vault was opened and partially destroyed. The eponymous crystals reach lengths of several centimeters to a few decimeters. They consist of barite and calcite, are usually very well crystallized and colorless transparent to translucent white. Due to the exceptional crystal formation, the place became a major tourist attraction.
