  • Then only way here, ferry boats, they say. Fee at 1 usd. If you go by plane to the island of Santa cruz already have to pass on this channel.

  • Arrive to Baltra airport has its history. From the hotel in Santa Cruz a taxi is taken until the end of the cerretera, about 40 Km. We thus reach the channel, it is pretty per does not give much time to look at, a boat that crosses you, was taken to ti and suitcases, where is the airport up to the neighbouring island. It should wait a while, who arrive buses from flight companies.

  • The channel that virtually divides Santa Cruz from baltra and that we got to see both when we made excursions to other islands (this is where you will find the ferry terminal) is to get to the airport because from here you can catch bus service offered by Airlines although to cross the channel, you must use the various ferries, but better organized. There's also a decent view out of the channel.

  • The point where all the splendid journeys of Galapagos starts. Also the first view of the 'real' Galapagos. Etched in my memory.
  • The Itabaca channel separates the islands of Baltra and Santa Cruz, crosses it will always to enter or leave the Seymour airport.

Where to stay in Puerto Ayora

As a popular jumping-off point for Galapagos visitors, Puerto Ayora receives loads of tourists, and therefore features many of the accommodation options you might expect from a major destination. Though there are types of lodging to suit all kinds of budgets, prices in general tend to be higher in Puerto Ayora than in mainland Ecuador. The more upscale hotels catering to wealthier visitors lie along the waterfront in the vicinity of Avenida Charles Darwin, and offer excellent access to the sea, port, and restaurant scene. Consider renting out a private apartment room or staying in a smaller-scale hotel a few blocks back from the ocean in order to cut down on costs, as the city itself is easily walkable.
