Puerto Chino Beach, San Cristobal

(4.7/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Make your way to the southeast of San Cristobal island to reach Puerto Chino Beach, a remote beach with a variety of winged and flippered inhabitants. The fine white sand offers plenty of space to stretch out, while the calm water makes the beach a popular place to go swimming. In the mangroves that lie just behind the sand, you'll see finches, who'll be very keen to share any snacks you might have. The rocky outcrops to the left and right of the sandy beach are home to sea lions, though you should definitely not share any snacks with them, as they become very territorial when approached or spooked. • We went w our kids. It's a short easy hike to the beach. Apparently there used to be a lot more sand but the rains washed it away. We had to climb rocks and go right to get to the sandy beach part whi...  more »
  • This was nice after long day in the highlands. Amazing crystal clear waters and incredible view. The waves were stronger here than other beaches on the island. Fun for an hour or two. Don't forget the...  more »
  • Still fairly accessible. The location is very nice. I swam with a turtle and snorkeling was OK no more.
