(140+ reviews on the web)
Landmark Tourist Spot
In the middle of Isla de San Cristobal sits Lagoon El Junco, a large fresh water lagoon perched 700 m (2297 ft) above sea level. The lagoon has a diameter of 270 m (886 ft), reaches depths of 6 m (20 ft) and rainwater remains its only source of rehydration. Thick endemic vegetation surrounds the lake, lush and deep green in color. Birds typically dip by and use the freshwater to wash off salt from the ocean. The trek to the lake offers gorgeous views of thick mist consuming rolling green hills. Expect to trek in wet weather conditions as rain and mud are not strangers to this area. Don't forget to bring insect repellent as some creatures can leaves some nasty bites.
