(130+ reviews on the web)
Landmark
In the middle of Isla de San Cristobal sits Lagoon El Junco, a large fresh water lagoon perched 700 m (2297 ft) above sea level. The lagoon has a diameter of 270 m (886 ft), reaches depths of 6 m (20 ft) and rainwater remains its only source of rehydration. Thick endemic vegetation surrounds the lake, lush and deep green in color. Birds typically dip by and use the freshwater to wash off salt from the ocean. The trek to the lake offers gorgeous views of thick mist consuming rolling green hills. Expect to trek in wet weather conditions as rain and mud are not strangers to this area. Don't forget to bring insect repellent as some creatures can leaves some nasty bites. • It is a fantastic place with a beautiful view towards the island, access to the lagoon is a little difficult because has that there are many steps but at the end everything goes worth can see gulls in the lagoon and there is a trail to round it perfect for some good pictures.

  • Certainly once upstairs we couldn't see anything. A big mist covered the lagoon. But us loved vons see San Cristobal Island on a different angle than the beach and heat. Landscapes in amount are very pretty. Nice pictures. Certainly the rise necesittent plenty of water and good shoes. And I thought I could bathe in it. And not well. It cost $20 taxi driver retourle go ahead and are our family has enjoyed the ride.

  • The view of the Lake makes it worth climbing the Hill. Although there was some fog, both the Carter and the lake view is spectacular.
