Isla Lobos, San Cristobal

#7 of 11 in Parks in San Cristobal
A rich variety of animal life awaits you on the soft white sand and beneath the crystal clear waters of Isla Lobos. Hike across the sand to view the tortoises, blue-footed boobies, iguanas, and sea lions that dot the landscape. Climb to the top of the hill to see a statue of Darwin. Snorkeling will yield close encounters with sea lions, tropical fish, manta rays, hammerhead sharks, and red crabs. The sea lions here are very sociable, so don't be afraid to say hello. • The tour was really worth it; We saw frigate birds at courtritual and nesting, we could watch BlueFootedBoobies brewing and balancing and more. The guide was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions. The subsequent snorkeling with MeerIguanas, and many sea lions was great! -Thank you-

  • After we arrived on San Cristobal the day before and had already been to Playa Punta Carola and Mirador Cerro Tijeretas in the afternoon, the second day on Galapagos followed the first trip to the uninhabited Isla Lobos. The boat sailed about half an hour to the island. Then we were put ashore and did a tour of about an hour and a half. According to our guide, a total of eight boats carrying tourists are allowed to sail to Isla Lobos every day. We saw countless frigate birds there, (also brooding) bluefin, sea lions and sea lizards. The animals do not care about the people who walk past at just around 2m away from them. They know that people do nothing to them and behave accordingly. So the bluefin brooded right along the way. It was a fantastic stop, especially as on our trip it was the first stop on an uninhabited island. Later stops we made on Las Tintoreras and Seymour Norte. Each of the three islands had its own peculiarities and was unique in its own way. On the way back from Isla Lobos there was still a snorkeling stop in a beautiful bay.
