  • It was the first Catholic Church in Ecuador, we made a quick stop, by what they saw they not officiate mass, only to have the shrine to the Virgin Mary. the square sell crafts to good cost

  • Road to Riobamba, this is a must stop to admire this beautiful church which is the most ancient of South America and considrerada national heritage. It is the main attraction of Colta; If the day is clear you can see Chimborazo... The conquistadores chose this site to build the first Catholic Church of the Royal audience of Quito, in honor to the Virgen Maria as a souvenir to the Abbey of our Lady of Balbanera, of the Iberian peninsula. The day of our visit, the Atrium, the baptismal font and the altar were protected by a metal fence and we had to settle for observing them at a distance and take photos. If we could see closely, imposing wooden doors and admire the figures carved on the walls by the Indians. It was a nice moment of refelxion family...
