Nature / Park
Whether you’re looking to sit back and people-watch, go for a jog, or join a game of soccer, Parque La Carolina offers a place to take a break from the city’s busy streets. The large park in the center of the business district is one of the most popular outdoor areas of the city for visitors of all ages. Inside the park you can find a great selection of amenities and things to do, from visiting the botanical garden and the vivarium that houses reptiles and amphibians to seeing the cross placed in the spot where Pope John Paul II held a mass in 1985. The park tends to be especially busy on weekends, with various art performances and families soaking up the outdoors. Entrance to the park is free, but some of its attractions require an admission fee. Make Parque La Carolina part of your personalized Quito itinerary using our Quito holiday planner.

  • Extremely interesting it was touring the Carolina Park Botanical Garden primarily, by the great variety of orchids that possesses. Well care, and organiazado, delivered, at the entrance, a guide to navigate it.

  • It's really good right now. The streets across the park were fixed and they are so comfortable. Hiking trail is so soft, so you don't get your feet hurt while running or walking. There are a lot of natural zones where you can take really good pictures. In addition, these place is close to around 4 mall centers, so you can end your experience by going to the cinema or getting a special ice cream with different flavours, included high quality ecuadorian chocolate.
  • I love this park and exercise here daily. My second favorite park in Quito after Itchimbia, although Carolina is much more accessible.
  • It's a beautiful place where you can run, walk, bike and enjoy with your family. You can also eat some typical ecuadorian food in this park.
  • Huge park where everyone comes during the weekend. So fun to just hang out.
  • Great running path, recently remodeled soccer and tennis courts, little kid playgrounds, remodeled lake w paddle boats, and an amazing botanical garden

Where to stay in Quito

Most visitors to Quito choose to stay in La Mariscal, a touristy neighborhood filled with guesthouses, restaurants, and bars. This area is also the town's nightlife hub, drawing a young crowd of revelers from around the world. If you prefer less noise, look for a bed in La Foresta, a quieter and less crowded alternative just a few blocks away from popular entertainment opportunities. For upscale sleeping options head to the old town, boasting many of Quito's top hotels in some of its prettiest buildings.
