Established in tribute to an important figure in Ecuador's struggle for independence, Museo Manuela Saenz remains a major attraction in Quito's old town. Personal items like ornaments made from ivory, paintings, sculptures, documents, and china offer invaluable insight into Saenz's life. Pay special attention to items marked with the initials "SB"--these belonged to Saenz's lover Simon Bolivar. Guided tours are in Spanish, but private tours in English can be easily arranged.   • Exhibits a variety of parts and belongings of Manuela Sáenz, books, frames, beauty accessories, and weapons of the own manuelita, is without a doubt an entertaining walk through time to understand a little more influence so imposing woman in the life of Simón Bolívar. The Museum also displays on its first floor a collection of Christs of the epoch of the Quito School, and their last room a collection of weapons from different ages and origins. It is a museum with a cost of $4 dollars per adult, the route is guided and lasts approximately 45 minutes.

  • Museum is small but has some unique Bolivar and Manuela Saenz personal artifacts for both die-hard fans and the interested ones. Very pleasant surprise.
