Museo de la Ciudad, Quito
(4.2/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web)
Perfectly complementing the city's historical hub, Museo de la Ciudad tells the story of Quito and its traditions, legends, and customs through displays of art, maps, and everyday objects. The museum occupies the city's oldest building, originally the San Juan de Dios Hospital, which dates back to the mid 16th century. Journey through the centuries and find out how the lives of the residents of this important trade point were influenced by the exchange of goods, languages, ideas, and beliefs. Inspect dioramas of a typical kitchen, pharmacy, and local shop. The exhibits cover the period from the indigenous people to the arrival of the Spaniards. Two terraces of the adjoined cafe offer a quiet break with a view of the historical part of the city. • An excellent asked for anyone who wants to understand where Quito comes, why is as is and think about where it could go. I loved the prescription of centuries past.

  • The Museum is located in a former Hospital, in the historical center of Quito. It allows to know the history of the city, from pre-history until the early 19th century. It's well done, quick visit. Only downside, but it's inherent in this type of Museum: there is no extraordinary work, as in other museums in Quito. But it is worth a visit.

  • If you have time in Quito, I suggest making your way to the Museo de la Ciudad. It's a small museum, but has some interesting information about the city and Ecuador. We spent about 1 hour 30 minutes i...  more »

  • Incredible place with beautiful things to see. Absolutely worth a visit
  • If you visit Quito, you need to visit Museo de la Ciudad. A place to understand the Ecuadorean culture.
  • Full of history about how an Hospital turned into a Museum
  • 特别棒的一家博物馆,即便在不缺博物馆的基多也是精品,博物馆研究人员在如何组织这个问题上明显下了很大功夫,多视角,多维度显示了基多的前世今生,让人获益匪浅。
  • Good care... If you go to the precise schedules a guide tells you the story of what exhibit, but it is not as much. It is a small place... takes you to how much 1 hour to see all more or less depending on which both you are looking something
