Ranking as one of the highest statues in the world, La Virgin del Panecillo stands as an aluminum sculpture assembled with more than 7,000 pieces. Built to honor the Virgin Mary, the statue depicts a graceful, serene image complete with wings and floral halo. Since the statue’s completion in 1974, the image has served as an icon of the city and a top sightseeing attraction.   • If you want to know Quito from a lookout point, el Panecillo allows to observe nocturnal, the North and South of the capital in all its glory, highly recommended for a ride and if you have time you can climb the monument and learn more about the history of the city.
