Ranking as one of the highest statues in the world, La Virgin del Panecillo stands as an aluminum sculpture assembled with more than 7,000 pieces. Built to honor the Virgin Mary, the statue depicts a graceful, serene image complete with wings and floral halo. Since the statue’s completion in 1974, the image has served as an icon of the city and a top sightseeing attraction.   • Excellent view from the the Virgin of el Panecillo, I recommend them completely had the opportunity to visit this monument in August 2016. From there I was lucky to see the top of 3 volcanoes that surround the beautiful city of Quito.

  • An interesting spot on top of a hill with a windy road up to it. Some good views of the city and surroundings from there. Loved it. 
  • We went up by foot and despite of most comments, it was a quite safe. We did in the morning and it was a lot of workers and students passing by so it was not dangerous at all. There's few signs on the...  more »
