Avenida Amazonas, Quito

#119 of 183 in Things to do in Quito
Avenida Amazonas serves as one of the most important traffic arteries in the city, connecting its tourist and commercial centers. The 7.7 km (4.1 mi) long street is lined by hotels, shops, restaurants, and vendors selling souvenirs. It stretches from the city’s bicentennial park in the north to the Circassian Gate in the south. Walk along the street to get a feel for the area's culture; watch for a perfectly reconstructed 1920s building as you walk. Where to stay in Quito

Most visitors to Quito choose to stay in La Mariscal, a touristy neighborhood filled with guesthouses, restaurants, and bars. This area is also the town's nightlife hub, drawing a young crowd of revelers from around the world. If you prefer less noise, look for a bed in La Foresta, a quieter and less crowded alternative just a few blocks away from popular entertainment opportunities. For upscale sleeping options head to the old town, boasting many of Quito's top hotels in some of its prettiest buildings.
