Concha de Perla, Puerto Villamil

4.4
#1 of 6 in Wildlife in Puerto Villamil
Get up close and personal with marine life when you snorkel at Concha de Perla. Cross over a wooden bridge through a mangrove forest, keeping an eye open for iguanas and other land animals as you approach the lagoon. A large rock formation in front of the lagoon keeps the waters here especially calm, making this area great for children and those new to snorkeling. The clear water makes it easy to see the marine life such as sea lions, sharks, many types of fish, turtles, and more. • A place to snorkel. Near the port, so can do when it arrives on the island. There's sea lions and turtles at the scene playing and feeding.

  • Gorgeous place to snorkel in Puerto Villamil. Swam with a sea turtle along with so many tropical fish. Water is cold, so bring a wet suit. Our kids loved seeing the sea lions on the board walk.  more »
  • Really neat location - great swimming or snorkelling right off the dock. Cute little sea-lions flaked-out along the boardwalk that you have to step over, and the mangroves are neat. Not the best snork...  more »

  • After you walk down the dock through the mangroves, you are offered up beautiful views of the lagoon area then out into the Ocean. Seals lounging all around, like h ousr pets. The visibility was really poor for me today, though there was some fish and other sea life to enjoy.
  • Great lagoon to snorkel for free just off the harbor. It is connected directly to the harbor so what you see in there is always changing. No guarantees what you will see at any given time. The four times we have been there the water has been crystal clear and is not very deep. We have seen a Penguin, iguanas, seal lions, rays, and assortment of fish. The walkway to the lagoon is beautiful and well maintained. There is a well maintained deck with two sets of stairs into the water. Each time we have gone down there we have step around or over iguanas and couple of times sea lions on the path and on the deck. There are benches and places to hang your stuff. The view from the deck is great even if you don't snorkel.
  • Here you can see sea turtles (to the right where the water flows out) and sometimes sea lions to swim with. Check also the inflow of water (straight ahead) where a lot of reef fish are. Obviously, bring your snorkeling gear ;)
  • Beautiful and free. You can see lots of animals if you're lucky
  • Nice place to swim inside the town
