  • It is as his name says a breeding Center. Whose ultimate goal is the reproduction for the subsequent repatriation, therefore individuals are in captivity. However we have "La galapaguera" semi-natural where you'll see the turtles released in San Cristobal.

  • At the end of the day, I'm not enthralled with tortoises. They are interesting, but I don't love them. That being said, this was the most interesting spot to look at tortoises I stopped at. The center...  more »

  • I walked here from the main town. It's about a 40 minute walk through the boardwalk. The centre isn't too big and filled with baby and adult tortoises. I got to see 2 young tortoises fight which was very cute. It's free so good for a cheap morning or afternoon.
  • Liked the San Cristóbal Galapaguera better, but it was great to see the giant turtles again. The way to the place is incredible though, flamingos and lava lizards all the way through.
  • Lots of important work being done here. A bit sad to see some of the last tortoise of their kind in enclosures but hopefully this is only temporary until the populations can rebound.
  • In this place you can learn a lot about how human interaction is affecting the population of the different species of giant tortoises in the Galapagos Islands and what the National Park is doing to prevent the extinction of this amazing animals
  • Good place to spend a short amount of time, interesting and fun to watch how turtles grow.
