#1 of 40 in Outdoors in Puerto Ayora
Journey through a protected environment and observe the animals in their natural habitat at El Garrapatero. As you walk through the trail to the beaches, keep an eye out, as you can often spot finches and lava lizards along the way. Once on the beach, walk along the shore until you reach the lagoon, where pink flamingoes often nest and eat. Since the area is protected, do not expect restaurants nearby; be sure to bring your own water and food. A visit to El Garrapatero represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Puerto Ayora trip maker website to plot your vacation.

  • We couldn't miss going to Garrapatero beach and it was worth it. A very nice and nice beach for children because it is flat. You can see some marine species, according to the gentleman who rents the kayaks, we didn't see anything, but we enjoyed it very much. There's a lagoon where we saw flamigos. There's nowhere to buy water, so bring some water and some snacks. There are bathrooms and a ranger shed. It's worth going, you don't have to miss it. You can spend here 3 to 4 hours, it is more than enough and will give you time to go to another place, such as the Cerro Mesa and Swing Magic, which is on the road. I was told that it's called a tick not precisely because there are ticks but because on the island they introduced a bird called a tick to remove some insects.

  • An amazing beach, great view, very quiet. Before arriving you have to walk along a path about 10 min. It's worth it.

  • Cool secret beach.
  • A short taxi or car ride from Puerto Ayora is Garrapatero beach. Very nice and clean, with camping amenities for visitors. You can rent a kayak at the camping site.
  • Ok
  • Honestly it is not a beach that is worth going to visit. The fauna is very scarce the snorkel is not good as there is a lot of sand raised. There's no shadow. Just a shade tree and it's full of tourists. Taxis charge too much 40 dollars back and forth and sometimes they are so shameless to charge extra for waiting to take away. I recommend going in group, I met people and told them to share the TAXI. Back in the same way so the fare is divided.
