4.6/5 based on 65+ reviews on the web
Experienced climbers and adventurous sightseers flock to Mount Chimborazo for its sweeping snowcapped vistas. Once considered the highest mountain on earth at 6,268 m (20,564 ft) before being eclipsed by the Himalayas, the peak nonetheless represents the farthest point from the earth's center, thanks to a geological bulge. Ascending to the top is a task for experienced climbers only, and be aware that supplies, correct clothing, and plenty of rest are all essential. Those who don't want to make the strenuous climb can also take a car and then walk up to the second refuge for an excellent vantage point of the surrounding vista. Venturing beyond that point requires you to have a guide. Using our custom trip planner, Quito attractions like Mount Chimborazo can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • If you go to Ecuador do not miss the opportunity to meet the Mount Chimborazo. You can drive to near the mountain and then go up on foot to find the snow. The experience is incredible. Take warm clothes because the wind is very strong and cold. It's better to leave early and get there before noon because the clouds begin to cover the snowy peak and can't see the snow on the peak of the mountain. The show is amazing.
