Take a trip to Laguna de Limpiopungo, one of the most visited places in Cotopaxi National Park. Stroll along the man-made trail that surrounds the perimeter of the lake. As you hike, watch for plants, flowers, and birds such as Andean gulls and mountain ducks that are indigenous to the area. Be sure to take your time, many need the time to acclimatize to the oxygen levels, as the lake is located at an altitude of 3,892 m (12,769 ft) above sea level. Bring warm clothes so you can dress in layers.
