Inspirock Rating:
4.3/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web
See the aftermath of recent lava flows at Sierra Negra, where the caldera ranks as the largest volcano on the Galápagos Islands. Since its last eruption in 2005, the shield volcano has continued to release heat and gases, without any major events. Take a guided tour to the volcano to learn about the geological phenomena that created it. If you put your hands over a hole in the mountainside, you'll feel the geothermal heat radiating from beneath the surface. Wear boots for the journey, as you might have to trek through deep mud on the way up. Put Sierra Negra on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Puerto Villamil trip generator.

  • The road is long, are 2:00 and a half to go and other 2 and a half hours to get back, we've got Sun, a lot of heat, but the scenery is lush, worth paying the price to ease, take a hat, sunscreen, water, fruits, usually the Agency includes snacks. The crater of the volcano is huge, 10 km in diameter, is active, but top only see colors and scenery. The smaller volcano is another landscape, it looks like we're on another planet.
