Zoo el Pantanal, Guayaquil

4.2
#3 of 8 in Parks in Guayas Province
Closely observe a wide array of wildlife at Zoo el Pantanal, a zoo with something for all ages. Residents include endemic species like Galapagos turtles, jaguars, lions, and herons, as well as animals uncommon in Ecuador, such as zebras, emus, and humpback camels. Note that access here is exclusively by a guided, Spanish-language tour (bring a phrasebook if you don't want to miss out). Plan my trip to Guayaquil with suggested itineraries provided by Inspirock.

  • We were a large group to visit the pantanal zoo. Found me well that give people in groups and you have own guide that I will be talking about each animal. As it is not very big zoo is better for people is not over. Goodness they have a few minis techitos that protect you from the Sun because that Sabbath day was a strong sun. You get to the halfway point and give you chance to go to the bathroom or grab a bite at the bar. You follow the route which is more short and just. The place is nice how jungle. That Yes da Peñita animals generally do not have much space. The younger members of the family enjoyed the afternoon.

  • Very intimate zoo. A lot of animals to see. The tour guide was awesome and very knowledgeable of the animals there. He answered any questions. Prices were great and service was not rushed. There is a snack bar mid way through the tour. Definitely recommend this zoo! this is something you don't get in the US
  • I visited with my children a few years ago. I have been to many different zoos in the United States and this one in Daule is my favorite. We visited during a weekday as it was not busy and we had a tour guide explain each animal and their environment. It is a small zoo operating on a limited budget and it is not fancy, but you get very close to all of the animals (a much different experience from the zoos in the USA). I found it to be a great opportunity to learn about the animals native to the area and to see animals I would never see in North America. I hope they receive more money to expand their exhibits in the future. I look forward to returning again.
  • Very cool little zoo, you can get close to the animals
  • A good zoo with lions, tigers, camels, eagles, capibaras, crocodiles and peacocks. Guided tours available.
  • Nice zoo, good service

Where to stay in Guayaquil

Guayaquil's sprawling layout means its center isn't strictly defined, with accommodations spread throughout several neighborhoods. To enjoy the most iconic Guayaquil setting, stay in the riverside neighborhood of Las Penas. For easy access to public parks and some of the best attractions in Guayaquil, stay in the bustling district of La Bahia. If you want a more suburban experience, look farther north to the neighborhood of Simon Bolivar.
