Mirador de Turi, Cuenca
(3.9/5 based on 750+ reviews on the web)
To get an unbeatable view of the city, visit Mirador de Turi, a hill just outside the city. Take a cab or the double-decker tour bus that runs here to reach the lookout point (mirador means "lookout" in Spanish). Or, if you’d like a more challenging ascent, take the long staircase to the top, beginning at the nearby mall. At the top, take some time to appreciate the views of the city and the surrounding mountains. The white church, the Church of Turi, is also a great sight from inside and out. The hill is close to a pottery studio, as well as Cuenca’s main shopping mall, so squeeze in some retail therapy after your visit. Make Mirador de Turi a centerpiece of your Cuenca vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Cuenca trip itinerary planner.

  • This is an actual town, with a spot that overlooks the whole city of Cuenca and its valley. It's a great way to orient yourself. There are very touristy things to do up there, and across the street at...  more »
  • Much, there is not to say this "landmark". Run high, take photos, run down... OK, the prospect of Cuenca is worth a visit, but that's it. Out of boredom, I counted the steps on the way down: 450 from the top to the street. None of these steps has seen a broom or something similar lately.
