Mirador de Turi, Cuenca

4.2
#2 of 7 in Historic Sites in Cuenca
To get an unbeatable view of the city, visit Mirador de Turi, a hill just outside the city. Take a cab or the double-decker tour bus that runs here to reach the lookout point (mirador means "lookout" in Spanish). Or, if you’d like a more challenging ascent, take the long staircase to the top, beginning at the nearby mall. At the top, take some time to appreciate the views of the city and the surrounding mountains. The white church, the Church of Turi, is also a great sight from inside and out. The hill is close to a pottery studio, as well as Cuenca’s main shopping mall, so squeeze in some retail therapy after your visit. Make Mirador de Turi a centerpiece of your Cuenca vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Cuenca trip itinerary planner.

Nice outing, when the museums close one after a walk and something else will. And we were determined not to be!

It is a natural viewpoint from where you have a view of the entire city of Cuenca, has in part more high a swing that makes you to be in a vacuum, only for courageous. I recommend making the visit with the bus turistico

It's a good place to go in Cuenca to see the sunset. However if you miss it or your able to spend that time having a beer with friends, you will not be missing anything great particularly.

It's not located that far a way from the city. You can get here in a 15min walk upstairs which is totally worth it as you get a great view of the city. I'll recommend to go and see the sunset here is beautiful.

Where to stay in Cuenca

Extremely popular with international visitors and expats, Cuenca features the sizeable range of hotel options you might expect from a renowned tourist destination. Scores of hotels and bed and breakfasts line the streets of the city's old town, many of them occupying historic mansions and homes restored to their former glory. The larger, more upscale hotels in the city center tend to offer onsite restaurants and other amenities, while cheaper hostels feature little more than bunk beds in exchange for much lower rates. However, keep in mind that Cuenca's popularity has a flip side, as the large foreign presence makes for higher prices than elsewhere in Ecuador and also large fluctuations in cost depending on the season.
