It is near the Bus Terminal and the airport, so if you go in direction to the Center it is a required point to visit. Opposite the Church is the Park, the area is known for the ice cream.

This temple has several peculiarities which attract attention. One of them is its base made completely with Inca carved stone at the beginning of the colony. Above it stood the ancient church which for a long time, said the eastern edge of the city in the area called "neighborhoods below, shows a Romanesque style that is completely covered with pink marble facade. The interior warns another feature that makes this church unique in the city: three main ships and two small, are distributed in the form of perfect Latin cross. The new temple, built in 1935, retains even this unique structure as a basis.

Where to stay in Cuenca

Extremely popular with international visitors and expats, Cuenca features the sizeable range of hotel options you might expect from a renowned tourist destination. Scores of hotels and bed and breakfasts line the streets of the city's old town, many of them occupying historic mansions and homes restored to their former glory. The larger, more upscale hotels in the city center tend to offer onsite restaurants and other amenities, while cheaper hostels feature little more than bunk beds in exchange for much lower rates. However, keep in mind that Cuenca's popularity has a flip side, as the large foreign presence makes for higher prices than elsewhere in Ecuador and also large fluctuations in cost depending on the season.
