Categories: National Parks, Wildlife Areas, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.6/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web
Explore the 33,393 hectares (82,516 acres) of Cotopaxi National Park, centered on an eponymous volcano and sheltering Andean wolves, llamas, deer, pumas, and a vast array of birds. Hike through the humid mountain forest at low elevations and the snowy reaches of the hills surrounding the volcano, which saw its last significant eruption in 1904. Periods of heightened seismic activity--such as in late 2015--can result in restricted access to the park, so be sure to check with local authorities before planning your trip. • If visits Ecuador this place is really beautiful, superb is one of the largest volcanoes in the world not to say the first, a few months ago he woke up as giving a grunt, everyone panicked people evacuated the area. Not all is there another that is amazed to see this volcano Lord, waving to the world, its colours, including a friend who has some awesome pictures and told me I could not away I stayed with my mouth open. I would have been more away from it je je. It is wonderful, luckily it was only a greeting and is already on alert white so call it. From the restaurant located inside the Park (there is only one), can be admired, eat, sleep, explore. This formidable place.

  • Inpresive! Magical , amazing everything you can imagine in a same place. I loved it!
  • Beautiful landscapes. A great place to encounter nature! Love it!
  • Even with the summit to Cotapaxi closed because of the recent volcanic activity, the National Park is breathtaking! The mirror lake, wild horses, deer, and unique flora make for a memorable visit. Cycling tours are available and the local guides are super knowledgeable and kind. Do walk with a photocopy of the ID page of your passport as this info is needed for National Park statistics. This is a must visit!
  • This place has a great view. The trek is not that hard. We did cycling on our way down the mountain which was amazing
  • It was cloudy when I visited, but I was fortunate enough to get a short break in the clouds to get a view of Cotopaxi. I would give 5 stars, however the volcano is currently closed, so I could only drive through the park and walk around the lake.
