Las Piscinas de la Virgen, Banos

2.7
#3 of 10 in Spas in Banos
Soak your worries away at Las Piscinas de la Virgen, a hot pool complex that uses water heated naturally by nearby thermal springs. Built in 1928, the pools take their name from a local legend, which says that the Virgin Mary once dipped her foot in the hot water. You can bathe in outdoor pools of various temperatures, while you admire the large waterfall just behind the complex. However, you should prepare for crowds and potentially subpar cleanliness standards. Swimming caps are required to enter the pools; bring your own or rent one on site. Were in may 2016 g. Go right and straight Street, go past the park with gilded bust of Ecuadorian writer and diplomat Juan Montalvo. Come to the right place, which meets the wall with several stone lohanej under private jets. Judging by the fotam from the Internet here in hot springs suit postirushki local ladies. We come to almost 6:00 pm, pay the entrance and refuse bathing caps imposed on us, because we have our own. Go upstairs, but there we send back, since we did not pass face control shower caps. Well, go back and pay for 1 dollar deposit rates with the return of 50 cents. Go to the second floor, rent stuff in a box in a storage room (free of charge), get a ticket and see that same promise us these thermal baths. The presence of hot springs in the city only lazy will not build here with pools of different temperature water. Following the ancient Indians, their descendants today have chosen to be so exotic open-air water procedures and followed them and tourists gathered themselves up. Upstairs we found 3 swimming pools, of which one was filled, and the other only merged seems to mind boiling water. Another pool contained cold water and did not demand altogether. At the bottom, on the ground floor also has a swimming pool, a small round, but it is so oppressively hot water that a small number of daredevils risking to plunge into it, much less sit in it. Everywhere you can see the warning signs about the risk for cores, as well as painted composition of healing water, with miner ...

They are building a new hot springs next door, and it looks really nice. This is a place to soak if you are a hot spring junky, but not up to other hot springs standards.  more »
