Cristo Rei, Dili

(4.5/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web)
Perched atop a summit looking out toward the capital of East Timor, Cristo Rei stands as a symbol of the island’s relations with Indonesia. Reaching 27 m (88.6 ft) high, the statue was given as a gift to the east islanders by the Indonesian government in 1996, modeled on Rio de Janeiro’s monument of the same name. Climb the 500-step ascent and look out from the island’s peninsula, enjoying panoramic views of the Timor Sea. Take care on the uneven steps and bring plenty of water. Take a look at our Dili trip itinerary maker to schedule your visit to Cristo Rei and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • The populer landmark at timor leste so beautiful...
  • The most popular landmark of Timor-Leste. Take some time to walk up the top where the statue of Cristo Rei is located and get the view of Dili from the east. Perfect for sunrise or sunset view and sightseeing. The place also has the Stations of the Cross, with major procession held every Good Friday
  • Dili's scenic sightseeing spot. Especially popular on weekends among families. Nice beach nearby with several good dining places.
  • Great views from here and some brill little beaches nearby,be careful if you swim as the currents can be dangerous here.
  • Great place. Worth to see it. It's not a lot in Dili.
