National Palace, Santo Domingo
(3.7/5 based on 140+ reviews on the web)
Architecture and history buffs should pay a visit to National Palace, where the president's office resides. The neoclassical building dates from the mid-20th century, featuring a design by Italian architect Guido D'Alessandro. You can't access the interior, but the guards may let you get up to the gate to snap a few pictures. Afterwards, take a walk around the area to see some interesting early 20th century residences dotted around.
