National Palace, Santo Domingo

4.0
Architecture and history buffs should pay a visit to National Palace, where the president's office resides. The neoclassical building dates from the mid-20th century, featuring a design by Italian architect Guido D'Alessandro. You can't access the interior, but the guards may let you get up to the gate to snap a few pictures. Afterwards, take a walk around the area to see some interesting early 20th century residences dotted around. • Whether in the United States, Cuba or here in the Cathedral. Rep. This Capitol look somehow always the same building, which works but no less impressive. To the building around you can run and anywhere people can be admired. You can make nice pictures with the soldiers. I would give up a tip but respect reasons. You make it like to and want to be active only respect your honor for the State basically. In addition to the Capitol, the Ministry of defence can be admired - also locked and inaccessible without a separate guide.

  • I've been once, at a scholarship award ceremony at the National Palace. I was admired with cleaning and the order of the rooms and everything that I saw there inside. All very kind.

  • Beautiful building. The National Palace of the Dominican Republic is the official home of the President of the Republic and the headquarters of the Executive power of the country. It is one of the most emblematic works of the country and it houses also the offices of the Vice President of the Dominican Republic. It is located in the city of Santo Domingo, specifically in its political and administrative control the National District Center. In the year 1939 by order of the then President of the Dominican Republic Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina is pushed through the elaboration of the plans that would give shape to this work of art, whose architect responsible was the Italian Guido D' Alessandro Lombardi. It was not until February 27, 1944 year on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of national independence where he began the construction of the work. The National Palace, seat of the Dominican Government, represents the symbol of the Dominican sovereignty and is the place where the big decisions are made and outlines policies for the smooth running of the country.
