  • Museum air conditioned without excess (26 °). Audioguide included, in English or Spanish. Wall texts in Spanish. Adults: 100 pesos, children 20 pesos. It successively reads:-the context of the occupation (1916-1924) American - ascension of the young Trujillo in the new National Guard - how he came to power in 1930, - how it is immensely enriched, - the massacre of Haitians in 1937. the oppositions and their repression - the changing political climate of the 1950s - the fall of the dictator in 1961 - his successors (elections and coups d ' état from 1961 to early 2000s) the Museum is very "wordy", most of the texts displayed on the wall, with of course a few illustrations in photo or linked objects. Nevertheless we should not be afraid to read! Visit quickly (less than an hour) If you are moderately interested (However this lack of a summary), or even more time for lovers (day!)

  • They say that we must know our history to avoid repeating it. This museum is not to be missed: impressive detail than brave the Dominican people and their men and women should do to be free. My son of 10 and his friends it enjoyed, especially the figure of Manolo Tavárez just wax and the projection of the Mirabal sisters. Depending on how interested are in the details, the tour could well take an hour and a half/two hours.

  • A museum very simple but very well arranged, with many photographic images, videos, audios, and good teaching technique that shows all events before and during the tyranny of Rafael Trujillo regime. Here I really knew the story of the Mirabal sisters and their international meaning on the theme of non-violence against women. There are few objects with historical value, however valuable here is the story, how to tell it, displays. The experience itself is very interesting. To me I loved it!

  • I worked in the construction of this museum a few years ago and it was amazing.
  • Great experience, I recommend visiting it to know more about Dominican history of resistence. It has a lot of details of the dictator Trujillo's era, memorabilia and cool antics (such as a talking wax figure of resistance leader Manolo Tavarez). You can also watch a montage of the Mirabal sisters: their murder triggered the fall of Trujillo.
  • A marvelous modern museum! This is a center for Dominican culture and nationalism, with events every week and frequent new special exhibits. If you read Spanish you can learn reams about the DR's 20th century history. Even without Spanish, there's a lot to see, including the reconstructed basement torture chamber of Generalissimo Trujillo.
  • If you want to learn about contemporary Dominican history and how the resistance shaped it, this is the place to go. It takes time, it's like going through a history book, but it's worth your time.
  • Informative with audio tour available in many languages
