  • You will be bothered by all the vendors as you walk through this market. The goods are generic tourist stuff. I didn't buy anything because the vendors bothered me so much.  more »
  • Great variety of choice in one place. All prices are negotiable (discounts up to 50-60% can be asked), especially if buying several items at one store. I would recommend not to waist money at the beac...  more »

  • You can get amazing deals here! There are some crazy items like machetes that you can get for pennies on the peso! However, some of the vendors in this area are ridiculously aggressive. There was one man that grabbed me by the arm simply for him to get me into his store. Another man stopped me at the door as I was leaving to buy some coffee from him as well. I mean, hey, whatever works, though. I did get to pick up some wonderful items here, like a starfish necklace for my mom, along with other things. If you'd like to experience somewhat of a thrill and get great deals while you're at it, this is the place for you. Just remember: always negotiate the price down by at least by 30% always, and act a little disinterested when buying things, because when you walk away, they will usually rethink turning down your offer. Never pay full price for anything. As poor as some of these people may be, getting ripped off doesn't help the economy or them that much. There is always the sucker right in front of you they have to sell to also.
  • Excellent shop place. Good to buy souvenirs and stuff of the Dominican culture. Also has an vegetable market in the back side
  • Very good tourist venue if you like tourist bits and pieces. However, this is a good place to buy larimar (a unique semi-precious stone of the Dominican Republic) and jade (second best quality in the world) jewellery, both are best buys, at cheaper prices than most outlets (especially anywhere in El Conde), but remember to bargain hard. Most art is Haitian style but none are original; you buy one and next day it's replaced with an identical copy.
  • Tourist trap. Don't pay full price for anything there. Nothing there that you will not find anywhere else in the area and at lower prices.
  • Good place for get souvenir yet a bit expensive and disorganized and sometimes there could be some bad smells from the outside
