Malecon, Santo Domingo
(2.4/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Take a stroll by the ocean along Malecon, the capital's famous promenade. See historic sites, such as remnants of the old city walls and a 17th-century fort, snapping photos of the old buildings against the sparkling blue backdrop as you go. Now an entertainment and commercial center, the waterfront strip boasts some of the capital's leading restaurants and live music venues. Unfortunately, it also represents something of a missed opportunity for the city, with too many areas used as rubbish dumps, and relentless traffic during the week. See Malecon and all Santo Domingo has to offer by arranging your trip with our Santo Domingo family vacation planner.

  • It is a sector where many activities can be made. We were soon but it looks that you can enjoy much. What I found is having lot of rubbish in the pedestrian zone and in the sea. It would be worth that they make garbage collection to promote it as a tourist site.
