Boca Chica, Santo Domingo

2.8
#1 of 16 in Outdoors in Santo Domingo
Head down to the southern coast of Hispaniola to find Boca Chica, a popular beach with amenities and natural charm. Take a stroll on the soft white sand before picking your spot along the wide beach, trying out a new beach sport, or simply lying back with a good book. The beach gains protection from a coral reef, meaning that the water remains calm and shallow. These conditions make the beach very popular with families looking for a safe place for young kids to swim. Lining the beach, along with the palms, you'll find plenty of local businesses, including beach resorts, restaurants, and hotels. • We had a very good English speaking guide and he took us to the beach at Boca Chica.. The food on the beach was great and he did not allow the peddlers to bother us. You just have to be careful of you...  more »
  • The natural Beach closer to the Capital Sto Dgo., it has a shallow blue water, protected by rompeola, excellent variety of services, long fried fish and seafood, good price, variety of restaurants along the beach and good police security.

  • There's really only one reason in the world to go to this place on holiday. Even for those seeking only nightlife and fun with girls, should know that it's all so shabby, dirty and terribly sad that not worth coming in this depressing place. Girls and fun can be found throughout the Dominican Republic, so there's no reason to live among the garbage, not Caribbean Sea Beach totally invaded by filthy beds of restaurants even more dirty. You can't walk that is literally assaulted by ambiguous characters that will offer anything to then claim substantial tips even if you decline the service. I saw families with children ... pardon me but I don't know what steps in the heads of some people. In the evening the town turns into a real open-air brothel, but with women who at least apparently, seem to have any disease ... believe me, the world is beautiful and vast. Not worth spending even half an hour of their vita.......si can be summed up in two words ... sucks
